Therapist Training
Being There: Assertiveness training in mental health settings.
Two-day seminar for mental health professionals on the conduct
of assertiveness training group therapy for the adult acute population. Offered
since 2000.
This program has been provided in communities across British
Columbia, and is regularly offered in Vancouver through the Changeways Program.
Evidence-Based Group Treatment for Depression and Related
Disorders: The Changeways Core Program.
Two-day seminar providing instruction in the conduct of
psychoeducational group therapy for the adult acute population. Designed for
professional mental health service providers.
This program has been provided in communities across British
Columbia since 1993 (with regular updates and revisions); over 1000 therapists
have taken part. It is offered twice a year in the Vancouver area.
The program has also been offered elsewhere in Canada (Calgary,
Charlottetown, Edmonton, London, Toronto, Waterloo, Whitehorse, Yellowknife) as
well as in Hong Kong and in Australia. The materials for clients are available
in English and Chinese.
Relaxation Training in the Mental Health Setting
One and one-half day workshop on evidence-based strategies for
managing stress-related arousal. Designed for professional healthcare
providers.
This program has been provided in communities across British
Columbia and elsewhere in Canada since 1995.
Sexual Orientation Issues in Healthcare: A best practices
workshop for providers.
One-day workshop copresented with Dr. Carole Bishop on sexual
orientation and access to health and mental health services. Offered since
1999.
